Celebrating our 6th season, The Border League has grown to be the most influential and recognized pre-season high school basketball event in the country. The Border League started in 2020 when two high school coaches were worried that Covid would halt their seasons and they came up with a plan to get games, thus The Border League was born. The original intent was to get teams together to create a league across four states starting the games in September. The idea matriculated into a tournament mixing teams from all levels and styles. Because Covid was shutting gyms down everywhere, the first Border League took place in Phoenix with teams from across the country showing up. That year the championship was televised on ESPN as IMG beat Coronado (NV). The growth has been phenomenal and now in year six, more than 200 boys’ and girls’ team will be invited to play. Over 40 games will be broadcast across the ESPN, League Ready and Balldawgs platforms with the Sunday games airing on ESPN2. The girl’s division will be greatly expanded including a live national TV game.

What makes The Border League special is that we combine teams of all levels, all types of schools, public, private and prep. Everyone is on an even playing field, all of the divisions are balanced, and the exposure is available to everyone.

Since we play scholastic and non-scholastic teams against each other, college coaches are welcome to attend. Last year we had more than 200 coaches. The NBA allows team scouts to attend and last year 29 NBA teams were represented. And of course, the media comes out. From, ESPN, Yahoo and 247 the cameras are everywhere. This season Overtime, Strictly BBall, Balldawgs and more than 300 other media members will be on hand. The Border League brings the hoop world together and this year is bigger than ever. We will have representatives from the NBA, USA Basketball, McDonalds All American game, Nike, Under Armor, 3Step Sports and the Hall of Fame.

The best thing about The Border League, aside from the basketball is we work hard to keep the basketball community together and provide a different experience for the players. 2025 is set to the most exciting yet. See you in October!
